Why the Secrecy?

“When the Mason learns that the Key to the warrior on the block is the proper allocation of the dynamo of living power, he has learned the Mystery of his Craft. The seething energies of Lucifer are in his hands and before he may step onward and upward, he must prove his ability to properly apply (this) energy.” –Manly P. Hall, The Lost Keys of Freemasonry David Spangler is a respected spiritualist who has been Director of Planetary Initiative at the United Nations. He wrote in his book Reflections on the Christ, “Lucifer, like Christ, stands at the door of man’s consciousness and knocks…He becomes the being who carriers that great treat, the ultimate treat, the light of wisdom.’ (p. 41) Whether you believe secret societies are involved in controlling our world, the above quotes should at the very least arouse some curiosity. Denial is not an intelligent approach to the subject. I suggest everyone should research the subject and at the very least come to their own well-informed conclusion. Some organizations to consider are the Freemasons, Skull and Bones, the Council on Foreign Relations, the Trilateral Commission, the Club of Rome, and the Bilderbergs. Other associate organizations are (or were) the Grand Orient Lodges, P2, the Black Nobility, the Illuminati, the Rosicrucians, the Knights Templar, and the Priory of Sion. Conspiracists argue that the main agenda of these organizations is an eventual global consolidation of power. Many of these groups are also said to be heavily involved in the religious and spiritual implications of this goal as well. Benito Mussolini said, "Fascism should more appropriately be called corporatism because it is the merger of state and corporate power.” And from Woodrow Wilson, “We are controlled by a small group of dominant men. The worst ruled and most completely controlled government in the civilized world. Some of the biggest men in the United States are afraid of somebody, are afraid of something. They know that there is a power somewhere so organized, so subtle, so watchful, so interlocked, so complete, so pervasive, that they had better not speak above their breath when they speak in condemnation of it.” Arnsall Rothschild was famously quoted, “Let me issue and control a nation’s money and I care not who writes the laws.” Lao Tzu counters, "...The more rules and regulations, the more thieves and robbers...The world is ruled by letting things take their course. It cannot be ruled by interfering." I know it common to link Freemasonry to world domination, and that many have gone out of their way to proclaim this idea, but because someone belongs to a particular group, does that make a "guilt by association" case?

Freemasonry is a very old institution, well beyond the 1717 date many attribute to its foundation. But in it's most pervasive form, it is a model of democracy in that it's purpose is for fraternity amongst it's membership, not domination and control. Some of the groups you mention, the Illuminati, P2, and so on have all been groups who have infiltrated and tried to influence Freemasonry, but with no success. Many will argue that Freemasonry's "secretiveness" is suspicious, but I tell you, Freemasonry is not a Secret Society, it is open and free to be joined by anyone so choosing.

It does, however, have secrets that it teaches, that in no way effect society at large. Instead, it's secrets are widely displayed on the internet and when analyzed mean little to the uninitiated.

I do agree with you however in that everyone should do the research on their own, and come to their own conclusions.

Freemasonry is indeed ancient; in my reading I have come across opinions that its start came from ancient Egypt, and even before, in Atlantis, if one were to believe that. Today, one must simply wonder at its unseen influence; for example, the fact that the majority of our US presidents have been Masons is suspicious at the very least.

Interestingly, my husband attempted to join them years ago but was turned down.

I also hesitate to believe that ALL their secrets are out in the open; of course most Masons are good people who strive to better their communities. What goes on in the higher degrees, though, one can never know for sure. Albert Pike, in his Morals and Dogma of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry (pub. 1871), wrote, "Masonry, like all the religions, all the mysteries, Hermeticism and Alchemy, conceals its secrets from all except the Adepts and Sages, or the Elect, and uses false explanations and misinterpretation of its symbols to mislead those who deserve only to be misled; to conceal the Truth, which it calls Light, from them, and to draw them away from it..." (p. 104-5)

Lastly, I might inquire, what is this mention of Lucifer? Albert Pike himself wrote, "...The Masonic religion should be...maintained in the purity of the Luciferian Doctrine...the true and pure philosophical religion is the belief in Lucifer...God of Light and God of Good..." (23rd Supreme Councils of the World, 1889.
